Renegade Studios in Partnership with Detrick Music Instruction Present

M.Y.A.M.P.

(MARIN YOUTH ACCELERATED MUSIC PROGRAM)

August 11, 2008 – Renegade Studios in partnership with Detrick Music Instruction announces the launch of M.Y.A.M.P. (Marin Youth Accelerated Music Program). M.Y.A.M.P. brings younger musicians together to enhance their skills, bond with their peers, build confidence and gain a sense of accomplishment, while gaining first-hand experience in both the creative and business sides of being in a rock band.

Students meet once a week for eight weeks, and the program culminates with two live performances (including an original song composed by each band). Registration for the next session of M.Y.A.M.P. is open now. Call Chris at 510.717.6419 for more info.

“There are countless talented young musicians here, but most of them don’t know how to actually be in an operating band,” said Terry Morton, Program Director for M.Y.A.M.P.

“M.Y.A.M.P." is an exciting opportunity to be the inspiration towards a lifetime of artistic collaboration for these kids.”

About M.Y.A.M.P.:
The Marin Youth Accelerated Music Program (M.Y.A.M.P.) is an eight-week program designed to show kids what it's like to be in a working band through music instruction, business workshops and live performance. Instruction will be appropriate to each band’s experience and ability. Music and performance skills covered will include topics Listening, Dynamics, Tempo and Groove, Soloing, Understanding Song Forms, and Playing Together. At the end of M.Y.A.M.P. session, participants will perform at two live concerts: an outdoor performance at the San Rafael City Plaza and a performance at the Sweetwater Station in Larkspur, CA. The Sweetwater performance will be videotaped and recorded. After the session, students will receive a complete press kit for their band, including publicity photos, a CD of their music and a DVD of their live performance.

The M.Y.A.M.P curricula includes four ‘industry’ workshops on the following topics:

• Band Promotion: Kids will learn the skills necessary to promote their own band. Each band will receive professional photos from a photo shoot and learn how to prepare a professional press kit and marketing materials.

• Shaping Your Sound: Kids will learn about the basics of sound production, including how to work with microphones, and how to get the proper tone out of their instruments.

• Music Business Part I – Roles in the Music Business: Kids will learn about the roles of different people within the music business, including: engineers, producers, managers, promoters, booking agents, and record label reps. Instruction will also include how best to establish relationships with them.

• Music Business Part II – Protecting Your Music: Kids will learn the actual process of protecting their original song, making it easy to understand copyright protection.

Joining Renegade Studios as additional sponsors of the M.Y.A.M.P. program are:
